How do I get an image onto my watch face?

Send the image to your watch. Then touch and hold the watch face, tap Edit, choose a complication slot and pick WatchAnything with “One image” or “Slideshow”. Your newest image is already preselected; to show a specific image or album, choose it in the complication’s settings. You can also add the complication before any image has arrived; until then it shows the WatchAnything logo.

Nothing arrives on the watch

Your watch and iPhone need to be in range, and the watch must be unlocked. Open WatchAnything on the watch once and any waiting images transfer right away. If that doesn’t help, restart both devices.

Why are the slots empty when the watch is locked?

That is intentional. Your images are personal, so WatchAnything shows nothing on a locked watch. As soon as you unlock the watch, the images are back. With the wrist lowered but not locked, they stay visible, dimmed.

Why is my image gray or tinted?

The watch face decides that, not the app. Multicolor faces show the image in color; single-color faces tint everything in their own color. Choose a multicolor face to see the original colors.

Why does my image look softer on a large watch face?

Some watch faces, such as “X-Large”, tell the complication it has the size of a small circle and then enlarge the image themselves. That makes it look softer there. The app can’t change this; on watch faces with regular slots, the image is sharp.

How do I delete images?

On the watch, swipe left in the image list. On iPhone, delete them in the gallery. An image deleted on the watch stays in the gallery and can be sent again at any time.

What are albums for, and why are round and wide kept apart?

An album is a slideshow: the complication cycles through its images. Because round and wide complications are cropped differently, each album has exactly one shape. The first image sets it, and the slideshow only offers albums of matching shape.

Where do the graphics come from, and can I use them?

The graphics come with the app, and you’re free to use them on your watch. With “Filter” you can give them an accent color, for example to match your band, and edit them like a photo.

What happens to my images?

They stay on your devices. With “Save to iCloud” turned on, they’re also kept in your private iCloud database so they’re ready on your other devices. I never see your images.

I have a new watch, or two watches

Images live on the watch you sent them to. For a new or second watch, send them again from the gallery, one by one or a whole album at once.
